Distance Learning

Visit the museum face-to-face without ever leaving your seat!

Interactive videoconferences between your location and the museum can introduce new topics, explore familiar topics at a deeper level, or even prepare groups for an upcoming trip. During these 45- to 60-minute programs, you can see, hear, and speak with museum staff in real time via a television monitor. The museum presenter is likewise able to see, hear, and speak with you. Each program listed below is visually rich with museum specimens. Exciting educational moments occur when close-up cameras are used to explore structures as familiar as a robin’s nest or as unusual as a tiger beetle’s compound eye.

All programs are aligned with state and national academic standards and may be modified to address your students’ specific questions, ongoing projects, related study units, and current events. Relevant pre-videoconference lesson materials are provided two weeks in advance of scheduled programs.

Meet the Scientist videoconferences are presented on Tuesdays between 1 and 2 p.m. For information on scheduling and pricing, contact Sue McJunkin at 412.622.3235 or McJunkinS@carnegiemnh.org.
