At Carnegie Museum of Natural History, learning is an adventure like no other!

Our world-class research and unique scientific collection are at the heart of your group’s field trip. There’s nowhere else in western Pennsylvania where your group can learn about science, nature, and world cultures all in one place!

How do I schedule my group program?

Build your field trip around one or both of our program formats. In each format, experienced museum staff orient your group with a focused exploration of the topic of your choice.

Programs - Tours

Great for groups who prefer a customized experience, discussion-based inquiry, and want to connect ideas across several galleries.

Museum educators highlight our most popular exhibitions while engaging your group with probing questions about hidden details and museum treasures. All tours make use of interactive exhibits with stops to investigate touchable educational collections. Extended Tours include extra time for hands-on investigations in a classroom.

Programs - Museum Quest

Museum Quest

Begin with a customized orientation to your schedule, museum maps, and gallery guidelines. Follow up with a self-paced activity to help you explore the museum. Students receive a Museum Quest to guide exploration of specific exhibits and practice 21st-century critical thinking skills. To help direct your group, chaperones are given an answer guide, and gallery staff are available to help you explore the exhibitions. The Museum Quest can also be scheduled as an add-on to other program formats.
