Powdermill Nature Reserve
Powdermill: A natural habitat, for a memorable and distinctive gathering
Celebrating a half century as the environmental research center of Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Powdermill Nature Reserve offers a range of flexible and well-equipped spaces for practically any business or social event. But it’s our unique setting and sylvan ambiance that make us the natural choice for a memorable, distinctive gathering.

Capacity: 96 seated, 150 cocktails
Go ahead, add to that invitation list. Because from a banquet to a workshop to a reception, space isn’t a problem in the Parker Room, Powdermill’s largest gathering area. The room comes complete with a data/video projection system, DVD and CD players, wireless microphone, lighted podium, big display screen, and a built-in servery. Permanent Exhibitions Area
Capacity: 60 seated, 80 cocktails
The Permanent Exhibitions Area is a multipurpose space showcasing Powdermill's natural history and research exhibitions. Its living stream offers a look at life in Powdermill Run, and the interactive bird call touchscreen is fun for all ages. Careful, because the deck’s beautiful wooded backdrop may be a little distracting.
Casual get-together? Organized activity? The spacious deck and courtyard are open to whatever ideas you may have. Surrounded by gardens and woods, these spaces are all about the possibilities. And right next door, you have access to an outdoor, natural-stone amphitheater at the head of the beautiful Black Birch Trail.
Special Exhibitions Gallery
Capacity: up to 48 seated, 70 cocktails, depending on exhibitions in space
The flexibility that makes the Special Exhibitions Gallery work for a variety of exhibitions means it can accommodate a range of gatherings. The climate is carefully controlled to protect the exhibitions, but you’ll find it a very cool space no matter what your event.
