Dinosaur Encounter Assembly Shows
Our enormous dinosaurs tower overhead from 8-10 feet tall and are operated by an actor hidden inside. These charismatic characters will engage audiences of all ages and can be hired to do meet-and-greets at fundraisers, birthday parties, school, corporate, or other public events. We also offer workshops and full theatrical shows that are exciting educational experiences that are perfect for classrooms or school assemblies.
Spinosaurus was a giant, carnivorous, partly water-dwelling dinosaur that lived in what is now North Africa during the Cretaceous Period. These theropod dinos could move both on the land and in the sea. They weighed as much as 10 tons and spanned up to 55 feet, even bigger than a T. rex! Our own version towers almost eight feet tall, and kids love her.
Anzu wyliei was a fierce, feathered, bird-like dinosaur that lived about 66 million years ago. It was officially named by a team led by Dr. Matt Lamanna, one of the museum’s very own paleontologists! Our 10-foot-tall Anzu wyliei puppet was designed using the latest scientific evidence to bring this dinosaur, sometimes called “The Chicken from Hell,” to life.

Volunteers are invited on stage to help uncover key facts about the dinosaurs before the dinosaur makes an appearance to the delight of all. Spinosaurus Encounter! is appropriate for grades K–6, and Meet Anzu! is best suited to grades 4–8.
Travel back in time to prehistoric Egypt and help our presenter Dr. Dino discover more about the largest land predator of all time—Spinosaurus! Students will dig for fossils; discuss habitats, adaptations, and stratigraphy; and finally, meet our friendly dino, Spiny! This traveling 45-minute stage show is written for students in grades K–6 but can be enjoyed by all audiences. Spiny is also available before or after the show for pictures. Meet-and-Greet experiences and workshops can be added to shows.
Join in the scientific process with PaleoLab’s team of researchers to learn about a newly discovered dinosaur. Use a virtual reality machine before you meet Anzu, our very large dinosaur covered in feathers. The dynamic and interactive traveling stage show is designed to coordinate with a middle school science curriculum but can be enjoyed by all audiences. Anzu is also available before or after the show for pictures. Meet-and-Greet experiences and workshops can be added to shows.
Length of program: 45 minutes for each workshop session (up to 5 sessions in same day)

Prehistoric Workshops invite kids to learn with hands-on activities. We will bring 10 exciting and engaging table top activities that teach kids more about dinosaurs, paleontology, and the scientific process. Activities may include measuring a dinosaur leg bone, comparing your foot to a dinosaur’s foot, building your own dinosaur, or even exploring the tools paleontologists use. You may want to consider having this in the evening to allow students and their families to explore together.
