SUMMARY:Science and Nature Lecture with Laurie Giarratani\, Director of Learning and Community
DESCRIPTION:Climate in Rural Systems Partnership\nAlthough Western PA may seem removed from the most drastic impacts of climate change\, scientists who study plants and animals are documenting climate-connected changes in local habitats. Building on a long history of conservation and community action in our region\, local organizations and municipalities are working towards climate resilience in a variety of inspiring ways. Learn how people involved in the Climate in Rural Systems Partnership have found common ground in our love for the Laurel Highlands and are using this to spark conversations about climate change. After the talk\, you are welcome to try some hands-on activities that explore climate in our regional systems. \nJoin us as we explore seasonal natural history phenomena of Powdermill Nature Reserve! A lecture will be given in the Parker Room at 2 pm. Lectures are structured for adult audiences\, and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nEvents fill up fast! Registration is recommended to guarantee your spot and help us plan timing\, seating\, and/or trail routes. If there are spots available at the time of the program\, non-registered individuals can join on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nProgram participants and visitors are expected to adhere to the public health guidance and Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh procedures in place at the time of their visit. \n[swcheckout site=”6″ item=”118107″]
