Winter Wildlife
Every spring in western Pennsylvania, a dawn chorus announces the return of brightly colored songbirds. The seasonal turn of late fall into early winter is also marked by the return of birds – species whose breeding territories are located hundreds of miles to the north. This presentation will use museum specimens to help participants recognize these winter visitors.
Join us as we explore seasonal natural history phenomena of Powdermill Nature Reserve! A lecture will be given in the Parker Room at 2 pm. Lectures are structured for adult audiences, and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Events fill up fast! Registration is recommended to guarantee your spot and help us plan timing, seating, and/or trail routes. If there are spots available at the time of the program, non-registered individuals can join on a first-come, first-served basis. Program participants and visitors are expected to adhere to the public health guidance and Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh procedures in place at the time of their visit.
