The natural world goes wild at night! Get up close to some of our live animal ambassadors and learn about nocturnal animals. Discover the plants and fungi that grow better in the dark. Explore the night sky and the beauty of the cosmos. Learn firsthand from scientists about why they do their work after the sun goes down. Enjoy human nightlife with drinks, dancing, and music.
Event Highlights
-8:30 p.m. Talk: Nighttime Herping in Borneo with Jennifer Sheridan, Associate Curator of Amphibians and Reptiles
-Meet museum experts Serina Brady and Annie Lindsay to learn about owls, nighthawks, and oilbirds.
-Talk with mammologist John Wible and paleontologist Matt Lamanna to learn about nocturnal mammals from the Age of Dinosaurs and their modern cousins that fill similar ecological niches today.
-With the guidance of Tim Pearce, find and pick out minute land snails from a northern Alabama stream drift sample.
-Check in with the Botany team to learn about what plants do when the sun goes down.
-See some of the museum’s live animal ambassadors up close.
