bird

A behind-the-scenes experience as research is being done!

Visit the bird banding lab and see up-close how researchers safely capture and band birds, and learn about the data they gather. Visit Powdermill Avian Research Center (PARC)’s flight tunnel and hear about how we’re studying avian perception of glass to provide glass manufacturers and building designers with important information that will help reduce bird-window collisions. Chat with scientists about the other research projects being conducted at PARC.

Because birds are most active in the morning, visiting PARC early is best both to see higher numbers and higher diversity of birds. Please keep in mind that banding is weather-dependent and we may have to close the nets early due to temperatures >78 degrees, high winds, or rain to keep the birds safe.
