Event Navigation

Join us as we explore seasonal natural history phenomena of Powdermill Nature Reserve! A lecture will be given in the Parker Room at 2 pm, followed by a short outdoor exploration. Lectures are structured for adult audiences, and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Program participants and visitors are expected to adhere to the public health guidance and Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh procedures in place at the time of their visit.
Fungi are ubiquitous, yet underexplored and understudied. From massive mushrooms and mile-long mycelium to tiny yeasts and rusts, fungi are responsible for many ecosystem services. Learn about the ecological relationships of fungi as recyclers, symbionts, parasites, and even predators! Afterwards, hit the trail and explore mushrooms commonly found in the fall.
This program does not contain any information on edibility or toxicity of mushrooms.
