Super Science Activity: Spring-o Bingo

Happy spring! Take a look outside your window or go for a walk with a grown-up. Check off anything you see and try to get bingo!

Do you see a robin?
Draw one when you’re done!

Can you find a bird’s nest?

Do you smell a skunk?

Can you spot an Eastern Cottontail?

Do you see any of these bright yellow bushes? They’re called Forsythia, and they’re blooming now.

Have you seen or or heard any squirrels?

Can you find any ants on the ground, like small honey ants or carpenter ants?

Do you see or hear any Bumble bees (pictured) or Honey bees pollinating plants?

Do you see or hear any hawks, like this Red-tailed hawk?

Can you see, or smell, Pyrus calleryana, also known as Bradford or Callery Pears? They grow along Pittsburgh streets and in many other cities.

Do you see any trees with bark like this around your house? They’re Sycamore trees–an easy one for beginner naturalists to identify year-round.

Can you find some plants growing in sidewalk cracks? We’ll post an activity later this month to help identify them!

Can you find any edible plants? Maybe there are some in your garden or a neighbors. DON’T eat them unless a grown-up says it’s okay.

Can you spy any earthworms? Many earthworms that you find are not native to North America.

Can you find five (5) dandelions?

Do you see any spiderwebs?
