Eight-year-old Chris Fleischner proudly donated a robin to Carnegie Museum of Natural History in 1979.
Now 36 years later, he’s been reunited with his bird!
Chris’ childhood experience inspired him to stay connected and in fact become a leader. Today, he is a member of the Museum of Art board and also serves as a volunteer fundraiser along with his wife, Dawn, on Carnegie Museums’ Individual Gifts Committee.
Last week, staff member Steve Rogers gave Chris and Dawn a behind-the-scenes tour of the bird collection to see his robin. They brought their two kids and Chris’ parents to share in the experience. His mother Leslie still remembers how Chris put his bird in a shoebox and they drove to Carnegie Museums to drop it off
